Family Space has been making friends in the Hesters Way community for over twenty years now, serving the neighbourhood, bringing hope and offering a helping help that’s been practical and effective.

The work of Family Space is greatly valued by those who engage with it and widely respected by professionals whose value the outcomes of it.  We depend on a small staff team supported by a wide range of volunteers who give us their time, their talents and their skills to support the work. Family Space has many volunteering opportunities across all of the activities we run. We welcome volunteers of all skills. There is no time commitment too small. All we ask is for you to have a DBS check and we can help you with that.

For more information or to make an initial enquiry please use the form below and we will get in touch with you.
You are welcome to come along, visit and see some of the work we do.

I have loved getting to know and meet new people from all walks of life. I got involved with Family Space as I was looking for something to do in my gap year as well as helping others. Family Space has helped me with experience for volunteering abroad as well
(Pates Grammar School student).

Family Space would like to say a big Thank you to all our volunteers. We could not do it without you.

"I was invited to come along to Time Out as a volunteer to teach and demonstrate art and craft projects.

It didn't take long to settle in as the other volunteers were so welcoming and the new mums were excited to start some of the projects I had brought with me. Since the first day I have been coming along each week and I feel that I have also benefited from the company of other mums and listening to their stories. "

If you would like to join our team of volunteers please get in touch, we would love to have you involved
